Leadway Capital & Trusts Limited is a subsidiary of Leadway Assurance Company Limited. The Company renders trust services for the benefit of corporate bodies, individuals, governments, government agencies and parastatals.

The Company also undertakes general investment activities and is able to finance and/or invest in a variety of transactions where management finds it expedient to do so.

Reporting Line

This position reports to the Head of Trust Services.


The individual will monitor the administration and management of a group of trust accounts in order to ensure the protection of the rights of investors as well as the beneficiaries of such accounts. He/she will manage assets held under trust and further development of the company’s trust accounts and new services.

Business Development

i  Identifying areas of need in the market, obtaining requisite  information from relevant parties through interviews and surveys and coming up with the intended product.

ii  Launching of product and subsequent publicity and awareness


Marketing of our products


i  Explore and create marketing opportunities.


ii  Secure marketing Appointments, attend meetings thereto as well as make presentations with a view to securing mandates.


iii  Managing and liaising with prospective clients as well as existing clients through periodic visits and phone calls.






Trust Administration


i  Assuring proper and accuracy of fee schedule being applied to accounts, and making recommendation in this regard for approval.

ii  Assuring that account set-up, maintenance, and termination are

performed properly in conjunction with specialty units.

iii  Inspection of underlying documents and assets for each transaction

iv  Ensuring perfection of titles for assets held under trust

v  Monitoring register of note/ bondholders with periodic updates on unit trust and bonds.

vi  Maintaining effective systems and controls to assure that assigned account administration activities meet internal and external regulatory requirements

Custody of title documents i  Receiving of title document, registering same in a Register of title documents and ensuring proper custody of same

ii  Monitor the movement of the documents with a view to ensuring safety

iii  Provide such documents whenever required and surrender document to the owners upon the end of the transaction.

Meetings i  Convening Parties’ meeting as the need arises

ii  Responding to current or prospective customer requests in an accurate, timely and courteous manner.

iii  Perform necessary correspondence for communication to clients.


Business Write-up

i  Drafting of transaction legal documents and vetting others as appropriate

ii  Circulating draft transaction documents round the parties and obtaining their comments

iii  Reverting to the Solicitors with transaction documents for perfection.

iv  Circulating counterparts of perfected documents round the lenders and keeping the original in our custody

v  Appointment of a Receiver in the event of default

vi  Liaising with clients to ensure that documents and moneys required for perfection of title documents are released to us

vii  Appointing Solicitors for the perfection of transaction documents




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOUR (Required to succeed in Role)
Educational qualifications  & functional/technical skills i  A first degree in law [LLB] and [BL] from the Nigerian Law School

ii  Conversant with the relevant Laws governing the industry as well as rules and regulations of regulatory authorities

iii  PC proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, trust systems), with a degree of comfort working in a technology-driven environment
